Oculus Rift may be occupying the virtual reality consumer market on PC and mobiles, but for consoles, Sony has been rumoured to be working on its own PlayStation specific solution. Designed to compete with Rift, a new source has stated to TechRadar that the headset will be revealed at next month’s GDC taking place in San Francisco.
The so-called inside source has said that they’ve been able to try the device behind closed doors and that, “The quality and resolution are really, really good. People will definitely be impressed with what Sony’s built”.
Sony has long been rumoured to be working on a solution for VR ever since patents for the same emerged. As of now, we can’t say for sure if GDC is the place to reveal it – why not dedicate that time to more important services like PlayStation Now, for instance? – but it’ll be interesting if it does appear.
GDC 2014 starts on March 17th. Stay tuned for more news and updates till then.
