Pokemon GO Surpasses 1 Billion Total Downloads

Pokemon GO

The ridiculous and sustained success of Pokemon GO has been astonishing to witness. The mobile AR title launched to immediate worldwide success, and impossibly enough, it has (for the most part) managed to continue being successful in the years since then, thanks in large part to the way it’s still being supported right now with things such as new features, events, and more.

What exactly does that success look like in terms of cold, hard numbers? Well, Nintendo has released a video in which the company shares those numbers. Since launch, Pokemon GO has been donwloaded one billion times across the world (via Nintendo Everything). Now, this doesn’t mean it’s been downloaded by one million different players – a lot of these are probably re-downloads, for instance – but that’s still a hugely impressive figure.

As of April of this year, the mobile title had grossed over $2.5 billion in revenue, of which $800 million had come in just 2018, so looking at those numbers, the game’s continued success doesn’t come across as that much of a surprise.

Another mobile Pokemon release, Pokemon Masters – developed by DeNA – is releasing for iOS and Android devices on August 29.
