Prey’s Typhon Hunter update has been officially announced. Along with a reveal trailer that contains gameplay, Arkane Studios has also dated the update. It’s out on December 11th for all platforms. While that means it won’t launch during The Game Awards, at least we can currently see how the gameplay works.
What is Typhon Hunter? It’s an asymmetrical multiplayer mode with some elements of Prop Hunt thrown in. Five players will control Mimics, while one player controls Morgan Yu. The Mimics will have some time to hide and find different objects to transform into. Meanwhile, Morgan must hunt them down with a pistol or wrench. The Mimics can choose to hide or take down Morgan, though they only get one life, while the latter can respawn after dying.
Familiar Talos I locations like the Yellow Tulip Karaoke Bar, Morgan’s office, and even Morgan’s apartment are available to muck about in. Interestingly, Typhon Hunter is also available in VR for PS4 and PC players. There’s also TranStar VR, a single-player campaign in VR mode that lets you control different employees before the story of Prey begins.
