Prey’s Typhon Hunter Update Possibly Incoming, Arkane Teases “Matchmaking”

Could Prey's free multiplayer update release when The Game Awards go live?

Arkane Studios has been on the down low since Prey’s Mooncrash DLC released. Sure, the game has received its fair share of cosmetic additions, but what happened to Typhon Hunter? The free multiplayer update promised some 5v1 insanity, as five players become Mimics and attempt to cause chaos, while a human hunts them down.

As it turns out, there could be an announcement soon. The official Prey Twitter account recently released a teasing GIF, which showcases a drinking bird prop near a glass of water. Some black substance, which reminds us of the Mimics, can be seen in the water. Arkane lead producer Susan Kath also chimed in on Reddit to say, “If I had any idea what ya’ll are discussing, I’d say there is matchmaking for quickplay and you can also have private games with friends. But, of course, I have no idea what any of this tweet is about…”

If that isn’t Typhon Hunter, we don’t know what is. Perhaps there will be a proper reveal during The Game Awards, with the update going live right then and there? It’s certainly a possibility and would draw the most amount of attention to the FPS/RPG. We’ll have to wait for more information- The Game Awards 2018 take place at 5:30 PM PT.
