Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown launched in January for PC and consoles, and though it may not be selling as well as it should, critics and audiences alike haven’t stopped raving about how it reinvents the franchise as a Metroidvania. Soon, more players are going to have the opportunity to jump in and get a taste of its offerings as well.

Ubisoft has announced that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is coming to Steam. Since its release in January this year, the 2D sidescrolling Metroidvania title has been available on PC only via Epic Games Story and Ubisoft Connect, but it will also be releasing for Valve’s digital platform on August 8, which will hopefully mean many more players will be diving in.

All of the game’s free updates released so far will, of course, be included with its Steam version, which includes a boss rush mode, a permadeath option, and more. As recently revealed by Ubisoft, the game will also be getting a story DLC in the form of Mask of Darkness in September.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “The Lost Crown is a fantastic game. Not only does it capture the biggest strengths of Prince of Persia’s earliest sidescrolling instalments, it also reinvigorates the series in spectacular fashion with its Metroidvania design structure. From level design to combat, from the platforming to its visual style, from the exploration to the soundtrack, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an impressive accomplishment in more ways than one, and one of Ubisoft’s best games in years.” Read the full review through here.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
