After stating that it would provide more details on the next firmware update for the PlayStation 4, Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed that firmware update 1.74 is now available to download across Europe, United States, Japan and Asia.

Of course, it’s far from the sweeping change most people were expecting – that will probably arrive with firmware update 1.8. Till then, this latest update promises that, “System software stability during use of some features has been improved”. It is only 194 MB to download and there aren’t any other patch notes provided.

The wait thus continues for a new PS4 firmware update. With Sony promising tons of news at this year’s Gamescom, maybe the next big firmware update is among them? Regardless, if you’ve been annoyed with the characteristic lack of features on the PS4’s OS – especially compared to the Xbox One which receives a major update each month – then you’ll need to keep waiting. Stay tuned for more information.
