With E3 2013 officially in the books, it seems that Gamescom 2013 is the next big gaming conference to look forward to. Microsoft has already stated that more Xbox One exclusives will be revealed, but Sony isn’t too far behind. In fact, it’s highly likely that Sony will be looking to steal the show again with an announcement of the PlayStation 4’s release date.

Sony has so far been reserving major announcements for the console at conferences such as this. At the February reveal, it first confirmed the PS4. At E3, it showcased the console and it’s pricing. So look for Gamescom to be a repeat of this trend.

We’ll also begin to see many cross-generational releases become dated for the PlayStation 4. Games like Watch_Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4 come to mind. It’s also highly possible that Sony expands further on its launch line-up, which includes Killzone: Shadow Fall, DriveClub, Knack, Planetside 2 and more. Hopefully this means Sony will also be narrowing down the release dates for indie titles such as The Witness, Transistor, Outlast, Octodad: Dadliest Catch and many more.

Indications point at Sony releasing the console in November, not too far from the Xbox One’s release in order to combat the head start Microsoft’s console will have when games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Forza Motorsport 5 release. We’ll see if the lure of timed exclusive DLC will for the former will be enough to prompt gamers into adapting the Xbox One at launch.
