While no specific dates have been given, Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 will release in December 2013 in Asian territories such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. Unfortunately for Japan they will be the last major territory in Asia to receive the PS4, with their release date slated for February 22nd of 2014.

Reports are that some launch games such as Watch Dogs will be specialized for Asia and will come with Chinese and Korean subtitles.

Apparently this delay in shipping for Japan is due to a recent strategic review done by Sony, which yielded indications that Europe and the US should be its priority regions, as there is a lack of competition from Japan.

Similarly, the Xbox One is not set to release until 2014 as well. It would appear that Microsoft’s market research reflected the same findings as that of Sony.

The PS4 is slated to release November 15th in the US, and November 29th in Europe.
