We’re less than four months away from the launch of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, yet a lot of key details are still missing: namely the price and the actual date you’ll be able to walk in the store (or wait at your door if you’re an online-only shopper), to get either system. This has annoyed some people, upset others- but you know, we are still in the midst of a pandemic that saw major productions effectively stopped in the early part of the year. That’s made some people worried that the lack of details meaning a last minute delay could come. But worry not, as all signs point to everything being on schedule.

There is a third party involved in all this: AMD. They are producing key components for both Microsoft and Sony’s next generation systems. As reported by The Verge, their CEO, Lisa Su, shared in the company’s second-quarter earnings call that their 2020 products are still on track to launch on time, including their 7nm processors based on Zen 3 architecture, RDNA 2 graphic cards, and the initial production and shipment of the chips they are producing for the Xbox Series X and PS5.

Both Sony and Microsoft have committed multiple times to this Holiday season for release of their new consoles, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but if you were doubting due to the weird marketing cycle we find ourselves in or the pandemic, relax. They are coming this year, though maybe you could worry about a lower than usual stock… but one thing at a time.
