Sony has revealed its Q2 fiscal year 2022 results and confirmed 25 million console units shipped for the PlayStation 5. For the three months ending on September 30th, 2022, 3.3 million units had shipped, which matches the same period from last year.
In terms of software, the PS4 and PS5 sold 62.5 million units combined during the quarter. This is down 13.9 million in the same period from last fiscal year selling 76.4 million software units. Of that number, 63 percent were digital downloads, up from last year’s 62 percent. PlayStation Plus subscribers are at 45.4 million, a decline of 1.8 million over last year.
First-party sales accounted for 6.7 million units sold, which is down by 900,000 sales from last year. The numbers should improve this quarter with the release of Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok. It’s out on November 9th for PS4 and PS5, with reviews going live on November 3rd.
