Quantum Error
TeamKill Media’s Quantum Error is kind of a wildcard title, offering a first person story with a heavy cosmic horror focus. The story sees firefighter Capt. Jacob Thomas and his squad sent to the Monad Quantum Research Facility, which goes into lockdown following a mysterious attack. Eventually, it becomes clear that all kinds of horrifying beings are responsible for the catastrophe. In a setting like this, 3D audio can be very effective, a sentiment which TeamKill co-founder Micah Jones echoes.
Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine for its August 2020 issue, Jones says the team will leverage the Tempest Engine to “engulf” the player with sound. “Audio also plays a huge part in bringing on that horror feel and maintaining it throughout a game. We are going to make the player feel like they are actually there in the game, with the sound engulfing them, perceiving an enemy’s location and the direction and making the environment feel alive as you traverse.” This will likely make the jump scares that much more terrifying but it’s a price worth paying for immersion.
