Sony Computer Entertainment showed off a demo for its upcoming platformer Puppeteer, and confirmed to Joystiq that the game finally has a release date of September 10th. Art director Gavin Moore was even nice enough to indicate, “So that’s our release date” after showcasing a promotional trailer.

Puppeteer will be releasing on both PlayStation 3 as a retail version and online as a PlayStation Network download. It follows the story of a boy who’s been changed into a puppet and now embarks on a quest to defeat an evil king.

The game drew attention for its art style and for its use of a single, altering stage that changes on the fly as players progress from one area to another. Its art style actually reminds us a lot of LittleBigPlanet’s demented but cute designs.

Puppeteer will support PlayStation Move and players can use a pair of magic scissors to fight against other wooden abominations.
