RAGE 2, developed collaboratively by id Software and Avalanche Studios, received a new gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2018. It featured the player roaming across the various vistas in the world, killing things left and right. Suffice it to say, the combat and graphics look pretty good.

More importantly, RAGE 2 has a release date – it’s out on May 14th, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. That leaves plenty of time to learn more about the mechanics, world, and gameplay. We got to see a fair amount of all of these things in the new trailer, from the different abilities provided by Nanotrites to the vehicular combat and racing. It’s all here and looks suitably over the top.

RAGE 2 is being developed with Avalanche’s Apex Engine instead of id Tech, allowing for a large open world and plenty of destruction. Considering the legacy of the first RAGE, we’re expecting a a lot more from the sequel. Will it be properly optimized for consoles at launch? That remains to be seen, so stay tuned for more information.
