Ratchet and Clank Might Still See One More Release on the PS4

The Lombax and his robot buddy might not yet be done with Sony's current console.

Insomniac Games may have fund unprecedented success recently with the supremely successful Spider-Man, but they’ve always had some pretty huge franchises and games released on Sony’s platforms. One particular Insomniac-developed series that has almost become a mainstay in Sony’s exclusive lineup is Ratchet and Clank.

And it seems they might be returning to it before we see them go back to the wallcrawler. Recently, on the latest episode of his Knockback podcast, former IGN and Kinda Funny editor Colin Moriarty got to talking about Ratchet and Clank, before cryptically adding, “You haven’t seen the last of Ratchet & Clank on the PS4″- you can hear this at around the 1:14:40 mark.

Many would have presumed that Insomniac would have gotten straight to work on Spider-Man 2 after the success that the first game saw, but Ratchet and Clank is, of course, a major property for Sony as well, if not on the same level as the likes of Spider-Man or God of War. Recently, Moriarty also mentioned that Sony still had a “a fairly substantial PS4 exclusive yet to be announced from a second party”, and this would certainly fit the description.

The last Ratchet and Clank game that we saw was 2016’s remake of the first game, which launched to great reception, and also went on to become Insomniac’s most successful game ever (at the time- at least until Spider-Man came around a couple years later)- so it’s not exactly hard to see Sony and Insomniac working on a sequel for the PS4.
