SACRIFICE

Red Dead Redemption 2

Much of John’s arc in Red Dead Redemption 1 was about trying to erase his past sins and seek redemption, as the name implies, most of all because he wanted a better life for his family, and his son Jack. At the end of the game when he realizes that Agent Ross and his posse have come to Beecher’s Hope to finish him off, he sacrifices himself to ensure that Jack and Abigail can escape for a better life. Arthur’s arc in Red Dead Redemption 2 starts out very differently, but as the game approaches its final act, wanting to help John, Abigail, and Jack escape and find a better life becomes a huge motivation for him, and he, too, ends up sacrificing himself to make sure that John can at least try to make that happen for his family.
