Yesterday, Rockstar announced a companion app for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 (similar to what they did with GTA 5), which will connect with your PS4 or your Xbox One automatically while you play to supplement and enhance your experience. How it would do that wasn’t something they talked about, but in a new update, they’ve confirmed a few of these details.

You will be able to use the app, first and foremost, to check the game’s large map (which was recently leaked), to pan, zoom, scroll, all the usual stuff. You can also use it to place waypoints and markers to “aid your exploration and discovery throughout the expansive world of Red Dead Redemption 2.”

Your iOS or Android device will also display Arthur Morgan’s stats in real time, and include Morgan’s in-game journal, the complete official digital guide of the game, as well as social tracking through Social Club. What’s most interesting is that you can use the app to display all of the game’s HUD elements, and as such be able to play the entire game totally HUD-free.

The app, as well as the game, will launch on October 26. The latter will launch with a day one patch. Plenty of new gameplay footage was also leaked- head on over here to take a look.
