Resident Evil 1 Remake Enters Full Production But It’s Currently “Years Out” – Rumor

Leaker Aesthetic Gamer theorizes that it's one reason why Spencer Mansion didn't appear in the recent Resident Evil Requiem.

With Capcom allegedly remaking Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and Zero, it only seemed a matter of time before it would return to where it all began. According to leaker AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, that time is allegedly now, as Resident Evil 1 Remake has recently entered full production.

Of course, it will take a while – they claim it’s “years out” at the time of writing. But it would explain why Spencer Mansion didn’t appear in Resident Evil Requiem, despite its strong connection to Raccoon City.

“To be honest, I have theories on why it’s cut,” said Dusk Golem. “It being cut, I know for a fact, but why I only have speculation on, but I think I might be on the right track. So the next main Resident Evil game is Code Veronica Remake. In Code Veronica, you go to a callback to the Resident Evil 1 Mansion. Everyone knows that.

“So, imagine if you will, if Resident Evil Requiem had this Mansion section. Then you do a RE1 Mansion-inspired section again in Code Veronica Remake next year. And then a bit after that, you’re playing Resident Evil 1 Remake and in the RE1 Mansion again. It’d start to feel very samey and not very special at all. Going back to it so many times in short succession.”

While the logic is sound, one has to wonder why Capcom is remaking the first game. After all, it already did this with the 2002 remake, which would also receive its own HD remaster for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. Sales-wise, however, it makes sense. With how successful recent remakes have been, enough time has probably passed to justify a fresh coat of paint and a potential new perspective for Resident Evil.

Besides, it may help fill the gap before the next mainline titles. Capcom is allegedly holding a meeting in 2027 following the rumored release of Code: Veronica Remake to decide the series’ future.

In the meantime, Resident Evil Requiem is doing phenomenal sales for the company. After becoming the biggest Steam release in the franchise’s history, effectively doubling the peak concurrent player count of Resident Evil 4 Remake, it has sold more than five million copies.
