The highly anticipated ambitious remake of Resident Evil 2 is merely days away from launch now, but some fans are already starting to wonder about future content Resident Evil coming from Capcom. More specifically, once the remake is out of the gates, will the developed support the game with new content additions after its launch, or will the Resident Evil team, after a well deserved break, move on to whatever it is that they have planned next?
Recently, while speaking in an interview with Saudi Gamer, Resident Evil 2 director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi were asked about whether or not Capcom has any DLC planned for the upcoming remake. The developers said, as you would expect, that for now, they remain focused on the launch of the base game itself, but also added that that is something that is currently being evaluated by the team at Capcom, leaving the door open for the possibility.
It would definitely be interesting to see what Capcom do with DLC for Resident Evil 2, especially considering how much content is already included in the game, including the likes of Fourth Survivor and Tofu as well. Either way, for now, we don’t know for sure if it will end up happening (but we can keep on hoping).
Resident Evil 2 launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25. The total playtime of both the game’s campaigns was recently revealed by Capcom. Read more on that through here.
