Despite Sony’s E3 2018 presser dragging in some points, it was full of awesome reveals like Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake. As the name states, the PS One classic is being remade completely using the RE Engine and will release in 2019 for multiple platforms. To provide more gameplay footage, Capcom developers sat down with PlayStation social media director Sid Shuman at E3 2018.
If you’re still skeptical about the visual fidelity of the remake, this demo is worth a look. Cutscenes and gameplay are displayed in equal measure, showcasing the extensive texture work, animations and effects that Capcom have implemented. The developer confirmed that the remake would have more modernized controls and an over-the-shoulder camera for shooting.
Don’t walk into this expecting a Resident Evil 6-style shooter. The gunplay is more deliberate and players will have to be careful with how ammo is used. Resident Evil 2 Remake is out on January 29th 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
