While no one is surprised that Capcom is captalizing on the critical and commercial success of Resident Evil 2 and will be releasing a similar remake of Resident Evil 3 as well, what many are surprised by is the pace of their output, with less than fourteen months separating the respective releases of the two games.
While we don’t know exactly how long Resident Evil 3 has been in development (though there have certainly been reports regarding the same), we do now know that Capcom are nearly done with the game’s production. Speaking in an interview with Weekly Famitsu (translated by DualShockers), producer Masao Kawada confirmed that the game will hit its targeted launch date. Development is nearly complete, the master code has almost been finalized, and Capcom is about 90 per cent done even with making the final adjustments. So it shouldn’t be long before we hear about the game going gold.
Resident Evil 3 is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3, 2020. We’ve recently also learned more about the expanded roles many characters will have in the remake, and that the game will be more action-oriented than Resident Evil 2 remake was.
