Resident Evil 8 has been leaked relentlessly over the last couple of months, to the extent that you’d think it was a Ubisoft game. From its enemies to its narrative premise to where it will take place, many details have emerged of late, and now, courtesy of another new report by Biohazard Cast, even more new details have been possibly leaked via the “latest build” of the game.

Do note that there might be some spoiler-y details in this leak, so if you want to avoid that kind of stuff (even in an unverified rumour), turn back now.

It’s been claimed before that occultism is going to have a pretty major role to play in Resident Evil 8 and its story, and more details have sprang up on that front. Apparently, a new virus has created new monsters and abominations, and there’s a cult that worships these. The game allegedly hints that there might be supernatural elements at play, but later reveals that it’s being caused by the virus, which also causes hallucinations.

Not all enemies will be unfamiliar though. Dogs, wolves, and zombies are in, as well as enemies that resemble Lickers. Some of the zombies will be armoured (which falls in line with previous leaks) and will wield weapons such as sword, clubs, and knives. They will be largely present in later sections of the game- more specifically, once players enter the previously leaked castle location.

Meanwhile, other outside locations like forests and caves have also been mentioned. Many of these locations will be pretty dimly lit, and you’ll have to rely on your flashlight at these times, which seems like a major gameplay mechanic. The flashlight will occasionally run out of batteries, but will recharge over time.

Some new story-specific details have also been mentioned in the report. There’s a new playable character named Emily, a woman in her late 20s. Ethan meets her in the village (the opening area of the game), and she aids him with certain things while also looking for her own father and trying to escape.

Details on the antagonists of the story have also seemingly emerged. Alex Wesker supposedly makes her return, and will be a secondary antagonist. The main antagonist is a mysterious count living in the castle, called Alan R. Apparently, he’s a high ranking member of The Connections.

As is always the case with any leak, take this with a grain of salt. Wait on official word from Capcom until you put your stock in these details. An announcement is allegedly coming soon, so it might not be too long of a wait.

Rumours have also said that Resident Evil 8 will be out in early 2021 as a cross-gen release, and that it will support VR on PS4 and PS5.
