A great many details on the unannounced Resident Evil 8 have leaked over the past few months, and information on who the primary protagonist will be has also emerged as a result. As per the leaks, players will be stepping into the shoes of Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan Winters again- but as per new information, he will be sharing the spotlight with two other characters.

Over on Twitter, prominent Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem (or Aesthetic Golem) has dropped some new details on the game, and states that Resident Evil 8 will have three playable protagonists. Referring to the previous leak about RE8 originally having been Resident Evil Revelations 3 in early development, Dusk Golem states that the three protagonists are a holdover from that time.

Ethan is still allegedly going to be the primary protagonist, and will be playing about 50 to 60 per cent of the game as him. You’ll spend 30 to 40 per cent of game playing as the second character, and the remaining 10 per cent as the third. Additionally, each character will play a little bit differently.

A recent leak made mention of a woman in her mid 20s named Emily who will be a playable character in the game, and that might very well tie in with this information. As for who the third character might be, that’s anyone’s best guess. Chris Redfield is rumoured to be playing a major role in the story- might we play as him once more?

Of course, all of this is based on the assumption that this is accurate information. As is the case with any unverified leak, though Dusk Golem has been a reliable leaker in the past, take these details with a grain of salt, and wait on official word from Capcom. That might not be too far away- reports suggest that Resident Evil 8 will launch in early 2021 as a cross-gen game, and that an announcement is coming in the next couple of months.
