We’ve finally got a closer look at the Resident Evil film reboot after that tantalizing teaser that dropped earlier this year.
An official trailer shows off a fresh new take on Raccoon City’s worst night ever, with new protagonist Bryan bringing a bit of naive charm to his role at the center of it all. He’s a medical courier with problems of his own that he soon forgets in the wake of an unexpected nightmare, one that’s probably not going to end until we’re well into the final part of the story. It’s going to be interesting to see how he manages to fight back against the inevitable BOW threat, given that he’s a tad too clumsy to be the kind of badass that Jill or Claire were in their outings on the silver screen.
Nevertheless, it seems that Bryan’s earnestness is going to win audiences over, with a test screening drawing positive reactions per rumors. He’s probably a welcome addition to a story that aims to be a love letter to the games while taking a new narrative direction. It’s definitely in good hands, with a very prominent team bringing it to life when it hits theaters on September 18, 2026.
And who knows, maybe it will have an impact on future Resident Evil titles going forward. Time will tell, especially with Resident Evil Veronica out next year, so stay tuned.
