Infinite Ammo in Resident Evil Requiem is locked behind multiple challenges that must be completed before it can be purchased, unlike some previous titles in the series. Aside from unlocking the experience of firing every weapon to your heart’s content, Infinite Ammo is critically important for a smooth completion of the game’s Insanity difficulty mode.
This guide for Resident Evil Requiem lists the pre-requisites for unlocking Infinite Ammo for both guns and the RPG-7, as well as some tips on doing so quickly and efficiently within as few runs as possible.
Earning Challenge Completion Points For Infinite Ammo
The first thing to keep in mind is to absolutely avoid wasting (Completion Points) CP on unnecessary unlocks such as cosmetics, concept art, and models. All the CP you could possibly need for that will be far easier to accumulate with Infinite Ammo at your disposal.
Infinite Ammo (Guns) itself costs 50,000 CP in order to unlock from the Special Content section of the Bonuses menu. The menu itself is unavailable until you complete one run of the game on any difficulty. Ideally, you will complete this first run in Casual difficulty, wherein you will automatically finish a number of challenges related to normal story progression.
Use this first run to get accustomed to enemy spawns and jump scares, as well as to amass all the collectibles, and their related challenges/CP rewards. Maintain manual saves after each story challenge completion, in order to use them as a makeshift chapter select function. Since CP is tracked cumulatively at an account level, not by save or playthrough, you can save scum your way to some easy earnings with certain challenges.
For example, two major trophies revolve around the use of the Blood Collector. Start by creating and maintaining a manual save immediately before acquiring it.
Next, begin with the Bloodlust trophy (10,000 CP) which requires you to collect 5,000 microsamples of infected blood with the Blood Collector. You can use Transfusion Bags to achieve this by consuming them, then reloading a prior save, consuming them again, over and over until you achieve the target amount. On your Casual run, you could also potentially achieve the Minimalist trophy (35,000 CP) which requires you to complete the Main Story without Grace ever using the Blood Collector. Though you will not be able to visibly track this challenge in the first playthrough, you can just avoid picking up the Blood Collector altogether and achieve the required result.
You can also do some of the preliminary tasks required for The Final Puzzle, with the remainder of the challenge completed on your second run, for an ultimate reward of 20,000 CP.
Completing the first run will unlock further challenges for you to track and earn even more CP.
After purchasing Infinite Ammo (Guns) from the Special Content menu, navigate to Options from the Main Menu, then Controls -> Basic Settings. At the bottom will be the Infinite Weapons section with a toggle for ‘Infinite Gun Ammo’. Turn it On.
Unlocking Infinite Ammo (RPG-7)
The RPG-7 (Leon) unlock costs 15,000 CP, and is not covered by the Infinite Ammo bonus. You will need to earn an additional 35,000 CP just to unlock Infinite Ammo (RPG-7). Using your new Infinite Gun Ammo, you should be able to achieve this easily over a variable combination of The Final Puzzle, Speed Demon (20,000 CP), or Never Touch the Stuff (35,000 CP), over your second run on either of the Standard difficulties.
That is everything there is to know about unlocking Infinite Ammo for both regular guns and the RPG-7 in Resident Evil Requiem.
