Resident Evil Revelations Announced for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U in North America and Europe

Resident Evil Revelations has officially been announced for all home consoles in North America on May 21st and Europe on May 24th. This includes Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U, and is fairly interesting considering the game’s origins on Nintendo’s handheld 3DS system. Revelations actually takes place between Resident Evil 4 and 5, and will see series veterans Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield reunite, along with their BSAA partners Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat. Players will confront new horrors aboard the cruise ship “Queen Zenobia”, learn more about the T-Abyss virus (before it gets retconned by the C-Virus) and investigated the demolished city of Terragrigia. But for those who think Capcom would waste our time with a straightforward port, fear not, because they’re prepping a ton of additional features to go with the game’s console release.

Heck, they’ve even prepped a reveal trailer for the same, though it’s been more or less known that the game will be arriving in the West across home consoles. Check it out below.

Along with the bumped up visuals, there will be a new enemy type, a new difficulty mode and additions to the Raid Mode such as new weapons, upgrades and additional characters (including Hunk, who features in Revelations).

Considering Raid Mode allows players to tackle the single player campaign in a slightly different fashion while leveling up and modifying characters, it should add significantly to the replay factor. Players can either embark alone or with a friend via online co-op.

Unlike the new Resident Evil 6 – an abomination by most standards – Revelations focuses more on the survival horror mechanic that Resident Evil is better known for. Ammo is limited, and you often have to think to survive enemy encounters.

Capcom has also revealed a ton of new screenshots for Resident Evil Revelations. Check them out below, if the reveal trailer hasn’t satiated you enough.
