Ethan’s Character
Ethan himself has been a rather interesting point of discussion since debuting in Resident Evil 7: biohazard. Criticized for having almost no personality and barely reacting to certain key moments in that game, he’s definitely more fleshed out and “human” in Resident Evil Village. However, either due to some cheesy lines or his ability to cheat death for one reason or another, he’s still fairly disliked by some hardcore fans.
It might also have to do with players not getting much time with more established characters like Chris, who’s only playable in the final segment (despite being so heavily featured in the marketing). You could argue one way or another about whether Ethan would have been preferable to having another Resident Evil mainstay hogging the spotlight. But given how the game ends, it should be interesting to see the reception to his character down the line.
