It’s always interesting to go behind-the-scenes and learn about the development of major projects, and Capcom have released a new “making of” video that does just that with the recently released Resident Evil Village. Based on the game’s early sales and the strong reception it’s been enjoying from nearly everyone since launch, it’s clear that Capcom have delivered something excellent, but as is often the case in game development, things were not coming together early on.

This new making of video talks about the development team’s struggles with various aspects of the game, including combat, enemies, level design, and more, and how the development team and quality assurance worked together, with assistance from focus tests groups, to balance the game and improve it until it got to the point it is at right now. Particularly fascinating bits of the video also show some gameplay footage from early in-development builds of the game, showing what Village was looking like at the time. Take a look below.

Resident Evil Village is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. You can read our review of the game through here.
