All hail, or something like that.

Microsoft’s Graeme Boyd recently visited Crytek to question several members of the development team working on Ryse: Son of Rome, which will be launching alongside the Xbox One this Friday worldwide, and in the process, we received some footage of a new mission: The King. Check the dev diary above for more information.

Ryse: Son of Rome is still fairly sketchy on story details, but we do know that you’ll be playing as General Marius Titus and controlling a Roman infantry on various sieges and missions of slaughter. The gameplay involved typical hacking and slashing, along with quick time events for executions and issuing commands to your infantry to bypass obstacles such as archers flinging arrows head-on.

Despite some mixed previews, Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome is still one of the biggest launches for a next-generation console. It will release for the Xbox One on November 22nd across 13 territories worldwide, and we’ll see how it plays out.
