Saints Row 4 Almost Had Dragons But “It Didn’t Work Out”

Apparently, along with all the other cool stuff, the upcoming open world Saints Row IV was going to go a step further in the insanity scale.

Yes, the Dubstep Gun and the superpowers are insane, but as this recent interview with Saints Row IV’s senior producer Jim Boone and design director Scott Phillips shows, there were other things they had in mind.

Most particularly, dragons. When prototyping them, Scott Philips stated that, “We don’t have them in the final game, no. I wish we did.

“It was one of those things that I told the team – a lot of people asked how are we gonna fit this in the game and I was like, ‘Don’t worry, if it’s fun we’re gonna find a way to make it fit.’ But it didn’t work out.

“But with this game we have a really great premise that allows us to do what we want to do. And that was one of the key things that helped us keep the insanity up.”

Saints Row IV will be releasing on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on August 20th for North America and August 23rd worldwide.
