Scalebound

Of course Scalebound was going to be announcing- it was going to be developed by Platinum, and it was being directed by the legendary Hiddeki Kamiya. But since we had not actually seen much of the game, it was sort of hard to actually get excited for it.

That changed today. Today, Platinum Games debuted Scalebound gameplay in real time on the stage during Microsoft’s Gamescom presser, and hot dayum, does that game look amazing. A real time action RPG, it will see players take on enemies alongside their dragon, to whom you can issue commands. The combat seemed to fluidly move from close range melee, ranged, and commands issued to your dragon.

The game will also have four player co-op, which sort of reminded me of a faster paced Monster Hunter game. It’s too early to call anything like this, but this may be the game that changes Xbox One’s fortunes in Japan, at least momentarily.

Scalebound launches exclusively on Xbox One Holiday 2016. Stay tuned for more coverage and information.
