Circana published its video game sales data for May 2024, highlighting the success of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut thanks to its PC release. However, one release was missing from the top 20 – Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory. In a new tweet, Circana executive director and analyst Mat Piscatella announced that it had ranked 37th in full-game dollar sales for all platforms.
Since Hellblade 2 didn’t have a physical release, only digital sales were considered. On Xbox Series X/S, it ranked in 21st place. After launching on day one for Game Pass, it ranked 12th on the engagement charts behind Fallout 76. It was followed by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Apex Legends and Forza Horizon 5
Before launch, there were concerns over how sales could affect developer Ninja Theory, especially following the closure of first-party studios like Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, and Alpha Dog Studios. However, rumors indicate no plans for closure “anytime soon,” with its next project reportedly greenlit. Time will tell, though, so stay tuned for updates.
