Ys Net has finally offered a statement on Shenmue 3 following the game’s controversial shift to the Epic Games Store for PC. It noted that “coordination with the sales policies of the involved companies was untenable.” This means that Steam keys will not be available on day one. However, it did note the versions currently available, allowing PC players to change to PS4 physical or digital.

If backers want to stick with PC physical or digital, they have the option to receive a Steam key for the game one year later. This option must be manually selected in the provided survey. Ys Net further noted that, along with publisher Deep Silver and Epic Games, it will honour refund requests if it the above conditions aren’t suitable for backers.

“Details concerning the refund request process will be announced in a following update. We ask for your patience until that time,” said the developer. It did make sure to state that, “In the case rewards within your reward tier, such as in-game content, have already been created and implemented, a full refund may not be possible.”

Shenmue 3 will be releasing on November 19th for PS4 and PC, following a delay from the original August release. In the meantime, you can check out footage for the game’s training, minigames, and much more.
