The wait for Shin Megami Tensei 5 was a long one, but Atlus’ highly anticipated RPG finally launched for the Nintendo Switch last November, and thankfully, proved to be worth all the anticipation. SMT 5 was praised widely by critics and audiences alike, and unsurprisingly, that’s been reflected in solid sales for the game as well.

Recently, Atlus announced that Shin Megami Tensei 5 has now sold over 1 million units worldwide since its launch. In early January, that number stood at over 800,000 units sold worldwide, so clearly, the title is maintaining a steady pace where sales are concerned.

Shin Megami Tensei has always been quite a niche franchise, which, in spite of its consistently strong critical reception, hasn’t really seen massive sales numbers. Given that – not to mention the fact that it’s only been out since November, and only been available on a single platform – those are very impressive numbers.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 is available on Nintendo Switch. There has been some speculation that the game could be headed to PS4 and PC as well- read more on that through here.
