Konami and Bloober Team have made it abundantly clear on multiple occasions that their upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2 is going to be largely a faithful recreation of the legendary original, though players can, of course, expect plenty of changes nonetheless, from more explorable buildings and a revamped introduction to altered dialogue and more. Another change that you can add to that list, interestingly enough, is changes in enemy and encounter placements.

Speaking in an interview in issue 44 of PLAY magazine (caught by MP1st), Motoi Okamoto – Silent Hill’s lead series producer at Konami – revealed that the Silent Hill 2 remake features “some minor updates” where enemies are concerned, with their placements being remixed so that even players familiar with the original game will have a fresh experience.

“As for the creatures, we have some minor updates. We have also replaced and remapped all the enemies from where they were placed in the original so everyone can have a fresh take on combat,” Okamoto said.

Okamoto also went on to add that with the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami is looking to illustrate how “serious” it is about its ongoing revival efforts for the psychological horror franchise.

“We fully understand that Silent Hill 2 holds a special place in many people’s hearts as being memorable and as a masterpiece,” he said. “So by introducing the remake of this game as the very first major title, we wanted to [demonstrate] to all of our players, all the fans, that Konami is serious about [renewing] the series, and that we are capable of delivering a high-quality Silent Hill game.”

Currently, Konami has two other upcoming Silent Hill titles officially announced in the form of Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f, though leaks have previously claimed that there are multiple other projects in the works at well. Konami has also continued to add to its numbers to work on what it described as “large-scale” Silent Hill projects.

Silent Hill 2 launches on October 8 for PS5 and PC. The game will be roughly 16-18 hours long for an average playthrough, indicating a meatier experience than the original. Read more on that through here.
