Heather’s Personal Hell
Heather’s journey to Silent Hill saw some familiar areas from past games being revisited but it’s true accomplishment was in turning regular locations into something more terrifying. It’s all the more important for Heather because in the beginning, she’s just trying to return home to her father, a place she knows is safe. After his murder, home is no longer a safe haven making Heather’s trip to Silent Hill relatively less perilous, though still fairly terrifying in its own right. The result is a Silent Hill that’s harsh and closed off, as if challenging Heather to seek a safe place that no longer exists.
