More satisfaction

A more tense experience is followed by a greater sense of relief and satisfaction once it’s over. Having lined up the perfect shot, Sniper Ghost Warrior then allows you the satisfaction of seeing the bullet travel towards your target in slow motion; camera panning and all. Crysis 2 is a satisfying and well made shooter, but the head shots in SGW just manage to pull it ahead in terms of raw feel good factor. Let’s hope Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 can do the same.

Fewer glitches

The original Sniper Ghost Warrior was plagued with glitches. Crysis 2 was not (at least by comparison.) If the sequel is set to use the same engine as Crysis 2, then we can only hope that this will make for a more stable experience. Though this won’t give Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 much of a lead on Crysis 2 it certainly won’t hurt, as the glitches were one of the really glaring flaws in SGW.

More realistic bullet physics

Compensating for wind and gravity makes for a more immersive experience

Sniper Ghost Warrior did a lot of things wrong, but its bullet physics were undeniably impressive. Sniping sections gained a whole new level of meaning when you had to adjust for wind speed and bullet drop. It made the whole affair feel more skilful and satisfying as a result, so if SGW2 can round off the rest of the package, it is sure to offer a unique experience that Crysis 2 can not.

Better sniping

Crysis 2 just lacked the extreme ranges of Sniper Ghost Warrior

The game’s called Sniper for a reason. Though close range weapons were somewhat less satisfying, long range warfare hits the sweet-spot in Sniper Ghost Warrior. Comparatively speaking, Crysis 2’s longer range rifles were a bit disappointing. This applies especially to the multiplayer, where swift cloaked opponents would cut down all but the most cautious of snipers. As it’s the focus for the majority of the game, expect the sniping in SGW2 to eclipse its counterpart in Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 is still a fantastic game but, if City Interactive can correct the original’s mistakes, Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 could prove a stiff competitor. Let us know you opinions on the matter in the comments below.
