Sony has announced that it’ll be broadcasting a new State of Play presentation this coming Tuesday, September 24th. Recent reports suggested that they had an additional event to be held later this month, and this seems to be it. While no game has been specifically mentioned, Sony promises it’s going to be a “pretty hefty show.” It’ll be around 20 minutes long, and will include “new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates.”

There’s a good chance that we end up seeing something related to The Last of Us Part 2. September 24th is also the day Naughty Dog are holding a media event for the game, and though that’ll be be a behind-closed-door thing with hands-on gameplay sessions, this State of Play broadcast seems like a great opportunity to provide updates on the game to the larger public as well. The broadcast is also two days before Outbreak Day, which would make a gameplay reveal even more fitting.

Interestingly enough, Sony also makes it clear in its announcement that we shouldn’t expect to hear anything about its next gen plans just yet. “It probably bears mentioning,” says Sony, “don’t expect any updates related to our next-gen plans in this episode.”
