Sony Online Entertainment has its hands full with a number of online titles like EverQuest Next, PlanetSide 2 – which is heading to the PS4 – and the zombie survival horror title H1Z1 but it may also be working on two new downloadable RPGs as well.

According to the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), Sony filed two trademarks on July 2nd for “The Darkened Sea” and “Altar of Malice”. These are registered to SOE’s office in San Diego and are described as downloadable RPGs. It’s possible that they may be expansions to current games or planned content for, say, EverQuest Next. Nonetheless, it’s interesting all the same.

Currently, PlanetSide 2 is slated to arrive on the PS4 in 2014 while EverQuest Next has no fixed release date. H1Z1 – also known as “DayZ for the PS4” – will be arriving this Fall though and emphasize teamwork above the usual “dog eat dog” mentality of most survival games.
