Sony To Use Air Freights To Ensure PS5 Can Meet Demands As Much As Possible In US

Sony is doing what they can to ensure as many PS5s get to the region as possible.

Sony’s PS5 is launching this holiday season. As it stands now, we’ve learned a lot about the console and television ads are already running. But we still don’t know key details still, such as the price and exact launch date though many are expecting the $500 range as well as sometime in November. There is, of course, fear of stock for both this and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S that’s also launching this holiday season. But it seems Sony is going to do what they can to make sure demand will be met, even taking to the sky.

As mentioned by industry analyst Daniel Ahmand/ZhugeEX, Sony has taken the unusual step of scheduling air freights in the United States to make sure stock is available. Usually, these type of shipments are done by sea freights to reduce costs. As Ahmand details, there are 60 flights planned (though it’s unclear if that is 60 separate flights or 60 different aircrafts). This comes from only Delta, so it’s entirely possible there are more flights being scheduled from other airlines as well as possible more stock coming via sea.

Ahmand says that the stock is expected to last for the remainder of the quarter. That bodes well for those in the US looking to get a PS5, but of course, just because they think it will match stock, it’s not guaranteed. At the very least, it seems Sony is doing their best to make sure you can buy their new system this year. A PS5-based showcase is set to be held on September 16th, where it’s possible we’ll get the date and price information, so stay turned.
