Sony Won’t Be Offering PS3 Owners of The Last of Us Any Upgrade Discount for the PS4 Remaster

Very disappointing.

the last of us remastered ps4 bundle

The Last of Us: Remastered is a PS4 enhanced edition of last year’s critically acclaimed Naughty Dog masterpiece. With the game being as new as it is, all 7 million PS3 owners who bought the game and are potentially interested in the remaster were doubtless hoping for Sony to provide some sort of upgrade discount for them when they purchased the new port. However, today, Sony has announced that it will be offering no such upgrade path. In other words, even if you already do own The Last of Us on PS3, if you want to buy it on PS4, expect to pay full price for it. You get no discounts.

It’s not like people hoping for a discount were being unreasonable- upgrade deals from last gen- to current gen versions are not unprecedented, with multiple games last year- Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed- offering players to upgrade their PS3 or Xbox 360 versions of their games to PS4 or Xbox One versions for as little as $10. So this news does come across as very disappointing.
