SoulCalibur 6 Geralt

The recent announcement of Geralt of Rivia, protagonist of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher series, in SoulCalibur 6 took quite a few of us by surprise. Thanks to a collaboration between Bandai Namco and CD Projekt, we get to see the White Wolf clashing with the likes of Mitsurugi, Kilik, Ivy and Sophitia.

A new video that goes behind the scenes of Geralt’s showcase features several CD Projekt RED team members talking about the challenges faced in bringing the Butcher of Blaviken to SoulCalibur. Borys Pugacz Muraszkiewicz, director of English adaptations, says that Geralt’s fighting style relies more on precision. “He’s not a scrappy brawler. He’s like a scalpel in combat.”

Along with changing how Geralt’s movement and combat would function in a fighting game, the original actor behind Geralt’s motion capture in The Witcher 3 was brought back for supervising recording sessions. Thus far, we have to say the results are pretty good in terms of accurately translating Geralt’s movement.

SoulCalibur 6 is in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It currently has no release date.
