Sony’s marketing strategy for the upcoming Spider-Man has been incredible. Other than the usual launch trailers and some elaborate advertisement shenanigans, they’ve also started a new series of trailers- called “Just the Facts”, the videos show Peter Parker calling into J. Jonah Jameson’s podcast, which will also be in the game, to talk about the webslinger, and the trailers are using this setup to show off several aspects of Spider-Man.

Last week, we got a trailer that focused on game’s open world aspects, and this week, we’ve got a combat-centric trailer. Peter Parker calls into JJ’s podcast once again- where last week he called in as “Peter Patterson”, this week he’s “your friendly neighbourhood anonymous citizen”. The two have a hilarious conversation about Spidey’s antics, while the trailer uses that as setup to show off various aspects of the game’s combat, from gadgets and suits to the criminal activities we’ll be going up against as Spidey in the game and how we will be making and upgrading his gadgets.

Take a look at the trailer below, it’s pretty good. This excellent marketing that I mentioned earlier is clearly doing Sony a world of good- pre-orders for Spider-Man have been exceeding Insomniac’ expectations. The game launches on September 7 exclusively for the PS4.
