Split Fiction Trailer Details Side Stories and Gameplay Variety

Hazelight Studios has debuted a new gameplay trailer for Split Fiction, its next co-op epic. It showcases two levels – a sci-fi story by Mio centred on gravity with bike races and a fantasy story by Zoe where they can shape-shift. The latter even has some side-scrolling platforming – check it out below.

Director Josef Fares also outlines Side Stories, “anomalies” which appear through different levels and lead to chaotic worlds. These include a jaunt through space, surfing with a Sandfish in the desert, and skiing while pursuing a moving train. A Steam post also confirms climbing a Giant-infested mountain and snowboarding down a different another while avoiding gunfire.

Of course, as showcased in the first gameplay trailer, Mio and Zoe turn into pigs, and players discover “exactly how sausages are made.” The overall goal of Side Stories is variety. Upon completion, the duo will have “even greater determination” to escape the simulation, seemingly implying a different outcome if they’re all cleared.

Split Fiction launches on March 6th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC (check out the requirements here). It features a Friends Pass like It Takes Two, meaning only one player needs to own a copy for co-op.
