Splitgate 2

After releasing its open beta late last month, 1047 Games has confirmed that Splitgate 2 will fully launch on June 6th. The portal-centric shooter will be available for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a new trailer highlighting the more emotional side of competitive multiplayer.

But that’s not all. A “major surprise” was promised for this Summer and will be revealed at the Summer Game Fest showcase. Nothing is known about it, but 1047 Games told Game Informer that this is the “biggest part” of the free-to-play shooter. Perhaps it has something to do with the uncharacteristic launch trailer.

We’ll have to wait and find out. Splitgate 2’s beta offers nine maps, three modes, a battle pass for earning cosmetics, a new Power Weapon, and The Lab, which players can use to create custom maps. Based on its roadmap, Version 1.0 marks the arrival of new modes, in-game events, another new Power Weapon, and map creator competitions this Summer.

It also marks the beginning of monthly map releases, including reskins and changes (which have yet to be outlined). The future promises even more skins, weapons, maps, modes, and events, so stay tuned.
