Square Enix President Shocked by Spiderman PS4’s Quality

Yosuke Matsuda talks about his E3 and the other game that surprised him.

Insomniac Games’ Spiderman for the PS4 is still a ways off but it’s receiving positive attention all around since its reveal at Sony’s E3 presser. It’s not only gamers who are impressed with it though. While speaking to Weekly Famitsu, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda spoke about his favourite games at E3 and was most surprised by the quality of Spiderman.

The other big name game that cause Matsuda by surprise was God of War, an intriguing new beginning in SIE Santa Monica Studio’s franchise. Matsuda also felt that E3 was being used as a turning point of sorts with more publishers making announcements before the actual show and then using it to offer more information.

There’s a balance to be maintained with delivering news to consumers (which can be done through streaming gameplay) along with using the exposure a trade show can provide. Neither God of War nor Spiderman have release dates and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain interest in the meantime.
