Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen is still a ways off from release. The campaign portion Squadron 42 was slated to release this year but it’s since been delayed.

As per Eurogamer, Chris Roberts announced the same during the livestream of Citizencon. “As much as we wanted to have Squadron 42 for this year, it’s not going to be this year.” He also noted that of the 28 total chapters, most were currently in the preliminary stages of development. How long will it be until the campaign is ready? There’s no telling at this point.

Star Citizen’s components were separated earlier this year into online and campaign (dubbed Squadron 42) to allow players more freedom in the kind of gameplay they wanted. Squadron 42 features some exceptional Hollywood talent like Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson and Andy Serkis among others so it’s easy to be hyped.

Stay tuned for more information on a new release date in the coming months.
