Star Ocean is one of those Japanese RPG series that always seems to be flirting with a comeback, but Square Enix never pulls the trigger. The series isn’t totally gone though, as it has received some high profile remasters lately, while today we got the announcement that Star Ocean: First Departure R would be coming for the PS4 and Switch.

The game is actually an HD remaster of an enhanced remake of the first game in the series. Called Star Ocean: First Departure, that game released all the way back in 2007 for the PSP. It also marked the first time the original game had been available worldwide in any form, since Star Ocean was originally never released outside Japan.

Star Ocean: First Departure R will release on PlayStation 4 and Switch. There’s no word yet on a release date, price, or new features for the game, but you can check out the announcement tweet below.
