State of Play

Sony has announced its next State of Play presentation for June 4th at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET. It will run for over 40 minutes and provide news and updates on “must-play games coming to PS5,” highlighting “creators across the globe.”

There are no hints at what could appear, but Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei and Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach are safe bets. Director Hideo Kojima indicated that his sequel’s final trailer would debut a week or two before launch and contain new details. Sucker Punch’s sequel could also receive more extensive gameplay, highlighting how players will go about hunting the Yōtei Six.

Other titles are a toss-up, though we could see the likes of Borderlands 4 appearing. Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford revealed that Take-Two Interactive would announce the pricing for the looter shooter “soon,” so pre-orders could open shortly after the State of Play. There’s been controversy over a potential $80 price tag, and Pitchford’s comments on the matter haven’t helped. Stay tuned for more details and announcements.
