We’ve been waiting on new details on Shift Up’s Stellar Blade for a while now, and after having been MIA for a while now, the game finally returned to the limelight in Sony’s recent State of Play presentation with a meaty gameplay showing.

Set in the future, Stellar Blade begins on a post-apocalyptic Earth, where monstrous enemies have driven humanity off the planet to an off-world colony. Players play as Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad, who are tasked with fighting back and reclaiming Earth. The trailer went on to detail some of the game’s key characters before showcasing its world’s different locations (including a city of survivors, a desert wasteland, and more).

Players will be able to set up camp in different locations, where you can purchase new items, upgrade equipment, acquire skills, take a break to restore your health, and more. Other characters you acquire (including those that aren’t human) will also often ask protagonist Eve for help, and whether or not you choose to help them will be up to you.

Combat is, of course, continuing to look like one of Stellar Blade’s highlights, and there’s plenty of it showcased throughout the gameplay showing, including various different weapons and enemy designs (including some pretty massive bosses). You can check out the full showing below.

A release date for Stellar Blade has also finally been confirmed, and it’s not too far away. It will launch exclusively for PS5 on April 26.
