With a fairly barren line-up of titles from Sony in the coming year, PS5 exclusives like Shift Up’s Stellar Blade will become essential. The action-adventure RPG has looked very impressive thus far, especially in the latest State of Play trailer, but what graphical options can players expect?

Technical Director Dong-Gi Lee spoke to German website Play3 (translation via DeepL) and confirmed three modes. These are Performance Mode, which “offers 60 FPS so you can experience very smooth gameplay”; Resolution Mode, “where you can enjoy the game in 4K”; and Balanced Mode, which offers a “balance between the two previous modes.”

Balanced could offer a dynamic resolution and frame rate targeting 60 FPS, but we’ll need to wait for more details. Lee also confirmed using the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the latter coming into play in third-person shooter mode. The touchpad is also used, though again, further details are pending.

Stellar Blade launches on April  26th for PS5 and costs $70. It was recently rated “Mature 17+” by the ESRB for violence, blood, gore, suggestive themes and violence. Head here for more details.
